In one of my last posts called “What Style Do I Teach” I made the following statement with regards to your martial arts training…
“We then need to take “Whatever Works” for us and investigate and develop it through a systemised approach to learning …So you can actually Learn it …then you Train it …then you can Teach it …and then, and only then, can you begin to Master whatever you’ve learnt.”
In this post I’m going to highlight the specific stages that you are going to go through during your martial arts journey so you’ll be able to recognise them as you encounter them and won’t be set back by misunderstanding them.
Instead you’ll appreciate that the stages are just part of the natural order of things when it come to learning. So if you want to learn and begin your journey towards Martial Arts Mastery you have to understand that the following three stages cannot be skipped, avoided or changed.
In fact, throughout your life you will go through the following stages whenever you are in the process of learning something new.
Check This Out!
As a trainer I am always asked about the best way to develop great abs. So, I’ve put together a 12 minute video for you.
This video is the first of a series I’m putting together for you. My goal for you is to stop wasting your time doing your Abs exercises the same way you’ve always done them and only getting limited results in return.
So, I’ve taken the usual suspects that everyone tends to include as part of their Abs workout …The Crunch & …The Reverse Curl and shown you how most people do them poorly. I then so you how to tweak them to get far superior results in less time! The third exercise I’ve included is the Brazilian Crunch. This when done right just targets …Everything!
So enjoy the video, then get to work and I promise you’ll be pleased with the results :-)
We often hear the saying;
“If You’re Going To Do Something …Do It Well!”
However, in my experience just doing something “Well” rarely brings about any kind of results worth shouting about!
Let me explain… I often ask my new students what kind of results they hope to get in their life by doing a Good Job. And the answers often given are something like “Good Results of Course!”
But maybe we should think about this for a moment. How many times in your life have you done a “Good Job” only to receive questionable results? I mean, you’ve probably had the following experience a number of times in your life …
Over the past 27 years of practicing martial arts probably the most common question I get asked is “What style of martial arts do you teach?”
And I’m sure they’re expecting a specific answer like… Karate, Kickboxing, Kung Fu or one of the many other martial arts disciplines.
I guess this way they will be able to categorise it in their mind and compare it to something they know of, have heard of , or even have done before. They can classify it according to whatever assumptions they have made and then it will make sense to them.
So I’m sure my answer sometimes either sounds like I’m either trying to be vague or maybe even a little awkward?
But here it is…
I promise the next post will be all about martial arts.
Following my last post it reminded me of one of my favorite pictures of my little girl as a baby.
Here she is at seven months old. And yes I have again dressed her up in my headgear. Actually this time it’s her mum’s headgear!
I’m sure every martial artist does the the same with their children?
No video with this one, just though I’d share the picture :-)
Okay, just couldn’t help myself doing the “Parent Thing” here.
You know what I mean …I’m assuming that because I find something cute and amusing with regards to my daughter that of course everyone else in the world will as well. And so so you should! :-D
So it’s mid afternoon, we’ve just finished training together and she’s decided (with encouragement from me of course) to put on my sparring gear.
Here’s me taking a video of her thinking it will be really cool to show everyone my little 3 year old doing her martial arts. Alas, not much martial arts. We did get some dancing and posing in the mirror though!
